Brass alloy (60% copper – 40% Zinc) is used abundantly in the taps, pumps, valves and armatures. In the classic brass material there is about 2 – 3% lead. This lead is dissolved in still and flowing natural-processed water. Today, the allowed limit value of the lead, which is very harmful for human health, in water is 10 units in a billion (10 ppb, 10 micrograms / liter) (AB – TS 265, 2005 standard). Commercial brass which contains high level of lead can never achieve this limit value.

Lead is added to water installation brass for processibility and leak prevention purposes. Today, alternative material additives (Bi and Si) had also provided the same characteristics and substituted lead. The production of lead-free brass alloys is important with regards to the human and environmental health and the usage is gradually increasing.Lead is zeroed in Ekosarı - Ecobrass / Ecocast and Ekosarı - Federalloy alloys, which are launched by SARBAK METAL TİC.
